The Power of Connection: How Spirit Guides and Energetic Forces Saved My Home and My Family

I’ve been called a lot of things—some kind, some not so kind. One of the labels that seems to keep coming up is "witch." I’ll admit, it made me laugh at first, but after reflecting on all the events that have unfolded recently, I realize why people might think so. The truth is, I’m not a witch—I’m just someone who has learned to connect deeply with the spirit world, my inner guides, and the energy that moves through and around us.

This connection has shown up in profound ways in my life, and today, I want to share my story. It’s not just about survival or miracles—it’s about recognizing that we are all one with everything. Spirit guides, ancestors, and energetic forces are always watching over us, protecting us, guiding us, and listening when we need them most.

When my family and I moved into our home in Malibu, I was immediately drawn to the two crows that seemed to always be circling our cul-de-sac —so I started feeding them. They became a daily presence, as if they had claimed this space as much as I had.

Something strange happened. My son found crow feathers left in front of his car two days in a row. I didn’t think much of it at first—sure, it was unusual, but I chalked it up to coincidence. Then, just a day later, my son had a terrifying experience. He was involved in a car chase that nearly sent him off a canyon cliff. Miraculously, neither he nor the car was harmed. When I sat with what had happened, I realized those feathers weren’t just random—they were a message. A warning. A protection. The crows had become more than just birds. They were guardians. And they reminded me that the universe is always speaking to us. We just have to listen.

My great-aunt Titi, who helped raise me alongside my grandmother and teenage mom, came to me in a dream. She held my hands, looked me in the eyes, and told me everything was going to be okay. “Your family loves you,” she said. It was so vivid, so real, that I woke up feeling an overwhelming sense of peace.

The very next day, the Pacific Palisades fire broke out—the largest fire disaster in the history of America. My home was directly in its path. Flames engulfed the front yard, scorched the side of the house, and even reached the side where my husband’s most prized possession, a 1967 Morgan his parents had bought brand new, was kept in the garage. And yet, somehow, our home was spared. The flames stopped just short of destroying it completely. Our home was one the four homes in our cul-de-sac, still standing. In the aftermath, as I stood outside and surveyed the damage, Titi’s words echoed in my mind: “Everything is going to be okay.” I knew, without a doubt, that I had been protected—not just by luck, but by something greater.

These experiences didn’t happen in isolation. Over the years, I’ve cultivated a deep connection with the energetic forces around me through practices like meditation, yoga, tarot, and astrology. These tools have been my guideposts, helping me tune into the subtle messages the universe sends and grounding me in my intuition. They’ve also taught me how to trust myself, my inner guides, and the wisdom of the unseen world.

  • Meditation: Sitting in stillness has allowed me to silence the noise of the outside world and truly hear my inner voice. It’s in these moments of quiet that I’ve felt the presence of my ancestors, spirit guides, and even the energy of the land I live on.

  • Yoga: The physical practice of yoga has been a way for me to connect my body with my spirit. Through movement, I’ve learned to release stagnant energy and invite in clarity and peace.

  • Tarot: Tarot cards have been a tool for reflection and guidance. When I pull a card, it’s not about predicting the future—it’s about understanding the energies at play and how I can align myself with them.

  • Astrology/Human Design: Understanding the movements of the stars and planets has given me insight into the cycles of life. It’s helped me realize that everything—both the good and the challenging—has a purpose and a season.

These practices don’t just help me tap into the spirit world—they remind me that I am part of something bigger. They’ve shown me that we are all connected, not just to each other, but to the earth, the stars, and the energy of those who came before us. I use these practices to help me understand how to best support my clients. When I can get a sense of what they may be challenged with, what is the work they are meant to do, then I can better guide them.

To those who have called me a “witch,” I say this: I am not a witch. I am a woman who listens. I listen to the crows, to my dreams, to the fire, and to the wisdom within myself. I’ve learned to trust the signs and messages that come my way, even when they don’t make sense at first.

The events of these past months have proven to me that we are never alone. Spirit guides, ancestors, and energetic forces are always with us, protecting us, guiding us, and reminding us that we are one with all that is. This connection is available to all of us—we just have to open our hearts and minds to it.

So, if you’ve ever felt like the universe is speaking to you, trust that feeling. Feed the crows. Pull the tarot card. Sit in meditation. And remember, the energy of the universe is always conspiring in your favor.

I am endlessly grateful for the protection and guidance I’ve received, for the lessons I’ve learned, and for the home and family I still have. To my great-aunt Titi, to the crows, to the fire itself—thank you. You’ve reminded me of the power of connection and the beauty of being one with all that is. And to you, dear reader, I hope my story inspires you to connect with your own inner guides. They are there, waiting for you to listen.
