PCOS is an Insulin Malfunction

Nov 05,2023 | Joule Goddess

I have a lot of clients between the ages of 18-28, mostly women. It's concerning how many of them have been diagnosed with some hormonal issue. When I first began doing this work in 2003, it was clear something was off, but it wasn't until recently we learned what it was. Weight gain, depression, unable to conceive, and hair loss were all some of the things I noticed was happening to my women, but no one could explain what it was. I would have lab work done and thyroid health would seem to be in the normal range, but yet it was obvious their metabolism wasn't functioning properly. And this is what I learned.

Before I share with you what I believe is going on, I want to be clear, this is my opinion that comes from working with hundreds of women and supporting thousands throughout the years.

In my opinion and having spoken to a lot of medical practitioners both holistic and traditional women's hormonal systems are being attacked by environmental factors and poor lifestyle, especially in the foods we eat. What I believe is that the liver is in high demand and therefore making it difficult to speak to our insulin, in turn causing us to crave sugar, processed foods, feeling anxious and depressed.

I will be writing more on this because there's a lot to share but for the sake of this blog post, I want to share what I notice happening most with my PCOS clients. Weight gain, thick hair on their legs. arms and face, depression, and anxiety.

The weight gain is the one trigger that gets most of us to want to understand more of what's going on with our bodies. I believe it's because there are ways to mask the other symptoms. For instance, if you have thick hair on your body, you can get it waxed or lazar it right off. If you have anxiety or depression, you can take pharma for that. If you aren't getting your period regular, you can take a pill for that. But what you really need is an understanding of your insulin, your hormones, and your dietary needs.

There are simple ways available to get started on learning more of what is actually happening inside your body. Wearables have become popular, and it's not just for those who have diabetes. One of my favorites is Levels Health. This wearable has an app that allows you to monitor your insulin in real time even while you sleep.

The other option is to get a full hormonal panel test through companies like Dutch Testing or Winona. You can also ask your GYN to help facilitate these test for you, just be sure that it's done during the right time of your cycle.

Somethings to consider right away if you are struggling with PCOS or any hormonal / gut issues is to incorporate seeds into your diet. These seeds include the SuperSeeds in our bars and cleanse kit.

  1. HEMP SEEDS
  2. CHIA SEEDS
  3. FLAX SEEDS
  4. SUNFLOWER SEEDS
  5. PUMPKIN SEEDS

By adding these seeds into your diet daily, you are helping the important process of estrogen detoxification. I will be sharing more about this in future blogs, a very important process for a better body, better mind.

Do you need help finding your better body, better mind? Reach out and ask your questions.
